Restore your peace with Quran

A man of bad character punishes his own soul.

You will never find happiness until you clean the garden of your heart from the poisonous plants of envy, hatred, spite, and resentment.

Narrated An-Nu'man bin Bashir: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, ...Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoilt the whole body gets spoilt and that is the heart. [Sahih al-Bukhari 52]

those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness. and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). (Quran 91 : 9 - 10)

...there is no change in the words of Allah... [Quran 10 : 64]

Ziyad bin `Ilaqah narrated from his uncle, that he said: “[The Prophet (ﷺ)] used to say: ‘O Allah, I seek refuge in You from evil character, evil actions, and evil desires (Allāhumma innī a`ūdhu bika min munkarātil-akhlāqi wal-a`māli wal-ahwā’).’” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3591]

Desire And Greed

Once Rumi was questioned, What is poison? He replied with a beautiful answer. Anything which is more than our necessity is poison. It may be wealth, power, fame, love, hate or anything. If you shorten your desires, your life will become easier.

Desire of Wealth

Ka'b bin 'Iyad (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Verily, there is a Fitnah (trial) for every nation and the trial for my nation (or Ummah) is wealth." [At- Tirmidhi, who classified it as Hadith Hasan Sahih]. [Riyad as-Salihin 480]

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "If the son of Adam (the human being) had two valleys of money, he would wish for a third, for nothing can fill the belly of Adam's son except dust, and Allah forgives him who repents to Him." [Sahih al-Bukhari 6436]

The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things), until ye visit the graves. (Quran 102 : 1 - 2)

'Abdullah bin Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Do not crave for property lest you should be absorbed in the desire of worldly life." [At- Tirmidhi, who classified it as Hadith Hasan]. [Riyad as-Salihin 478]

If you are stuck in the desires and greed of this world, surely it will hurt you a lot, and love of this world robs your peace of mind. So please stop chasing this world; it's temporary. Indeed, the real life is the life of the hereafter, if you knew.

'Uthman bin 'Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "There is no right for the son of adam except in these (four) things: A house to live in, a cloth to cover therewith his private parts, bread and water." [At-Tirmidhi, who classified it as Hadith Sahih]. [Riyad as-Salihin 481]

This worldly life is not for earning the good things of this world. But this life of earth is for doing good deeds and the preparation for the life of hereafter.

Best wealth

The best wealth is a tongue that remembers Allah and a grateful heart.

Narrated Thawban: "When (the following) was revealed: And those who hoard up gold and silver... (9:34)" He said: "We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) during one of his journeys, so some of his Companions said: (This) has been revealed about gold and silver, if we knew which wealth was better then we would use it. So he (ﷺ) said: 'The most virtuous of it is a remembering tongue, a grateful heart, and a believing wife that helps him with his faith.'" [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3094]

To any that desires the tilth of the Hereafter, We give increase in his tilth; and to any that desires the tilth of this world, We grant somewhat thereof, but he has no share or lot in the Hereafter. (Quran 42 : 20)

True believers desire to collect the good deeds which help him in the hereafter. But false believers desire to collect the good things of this world.

Beautified for men is the love of things they covet; women, children, much of gold and silver (wealth), branded beautiful horses, cattle and well-tilled land. This is the pleasure of the present world's life; but Allâh has the excellent return (Paradise with flowing rivers) with Him. (Quran 3 : 14)

And preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts), Verily, his abode will be Hell-fire; But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires, and lusts. Verily, Paradise will be his abode. (Quran 79 : 38 - 41)

True believer prefer the life of hereafter over this worldly life.

Once Korah went forth among his people in full glitter. The Quran mentions this event like that.

Then he came out before his people in all his glamour. Those who desired the life of this world wished, “If only we could have something like what Korah has been given. He is truly a man of great fortune!” But those gifted with knowledge said, “Shame on you! Allah’s reward is far better for those who believe and do good...” (Quran 28 : 79 – 80)

...Some of you desired the world, and some of you desired the Hereafter… [Quran 3:152]

And indeed the Hereafter is better for you than the present ( life of this world ). (Quran 93 : 4)

I think after reading this hadith, you will love to live the life of a poor.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "The poor will enter Jannah five hundred years before the rich." [At-Tirmidhi, who classified it as Hadith Sahih]. [Riyad as-Salihin 486]

Narrated Usama: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I stood at the gate of Paradise and saw that the majority of the people who entered it were the poor, while the wealthy were stopped at the gate (for the accounts)... [Sahih al-Bukhari 5196]

And on that Day you will be asked about the pleasures you enjoyed. [Quran 102 : 8]

Daulat agar halal tareekhe se kamai hai to kal qayamat ke din hisaab dena hoga, aur agar daulat haram tareekhe se kamai hai to kal jahannum mein azaab sehna hoga.

Desire of Fame

Greed for wealth and fame, the two most dangerous threats to your Imaan (Faith).

K'ab bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Two hungry wolves sent in the midst of a flock of sheep are no more destructive to them than a man's greed for wealth and fame is to his Deen." [At- Tirmidhi, who classified it as Hadith Hasan Sahih]. [Riyad as-Salihin 484]

O Allah protect my heart from being attached to something that will not benefit me in my Aakhira. Ameen

Desire to get a position

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "You will covet for getting a position of authority, but remember that it will be a cause of humiliation and remorse on the Day of Resurrection." [Al- Bukhari] [Riyad as-Salihin 676]

Narrated 'Abd al-Rahman b. Samurah: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: 'Abdul al-Rahman b. Samurah, do not ask for the position of commander, for if you are given it after asking you will be left to discharge it yourself, but if you are given it without asking you will be helped to discharge it. [Sunan Abi Dawud 2929]

Everyone will be interrogated.

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Everyone of you is a guardian and everyone of you is responsible (for his wards). A ruler is a guardian and is responsible(for his subjects); a man is a guardian of his family and responsible (for them); a wife is a guardian of her husband's house and she is responsible (for it), a slave is a guardian of his master's property and is responsible (for that). Beware! All of you are guardians and are responsible (for your wards). [Sahih al-Bukhari 5188]

In another narration:

It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Umar that the Prophet (May be upon him) said: Beware. every one of you is a shepherd and every one is answerable with regard to his flock. The Caliph is a shepherd over the people and shall be questioned about his subjects (as to how he conducted their affairs). A man is a guardian over the members of his family and shal be questioned about them (as to how he looked after their physical and moral well-being). A woman is a guardian over the household of her husband and his children and shall be questioned about them (as to how she managed the household and brought up the children). A slave is a guardian over the property of his master and shall be questioned about it (as to how he safeguarded his trust). Beware, every one of you is a guardian and every one of you shall be questioned with regard to his trust. [Sahih Muslim 1829a]

Narrated Ma'qil: I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "Any man whom Allah has given the authority of ruling some people and he does not look after them in an honest manner, will never feel even the smell of Paradise." [Sahih al-Bukhari 7150]

What do you prefer, this world or hereafter?

I prefer Hereafter over this world, because true life is the life of Hereafter.

Allah SWT said in the Quran: And indeed the Hereafter is better for you than the present (life of this world). (Quran 93 : 4)

...The enjoyment of this world is so little, whereas the Hereafter is far better for those mindful ˹of Allah˺... [Quran 4 : 77]

The love of this world robs peace of mind and the love of the hereafter makes life easier.
