A man of bad character punishes his own soul.

You will never find happiness until you clean the garden of your heart from the poisonous plants of envy, hatred, spite, and resentment.

Narrated An-Nu'man bin Bashir: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, ...Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoilt the whole body gets spoilt and that is the heart. [Sahih al-Bukhari 52]

those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness. and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). (Quran 91 : 9 - 10)

Ziyad bin `Ilaqah narrated from his uncle, that he said: “[The Prophet (ﷺ)] used to say: ‘O Allah, I seek refuge in You from evil character, evil actions, and evil desires (Allāhumma innī a`ūdhu bika min munkarātil-akhlāqi wal-a`māli wal-ahwā’).’” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3591]

Don't beg anything from anyone

Thawban, the client of the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him), reported him as saying : If anyone guarantees me that he will not beg from people, I will guarantee him Paradise. Thawban said : I (will not beg). He never asked anyone for anything. [Sunan Abi Dawud 1643]

Never begging for that which you have the power to earn. O Allah Never make me dependent on anyone except You.

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Some Ansari persons asked for (something) from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (p.b.u.h) and he gave them. They again asked him for (something) and he again gave them. And then they asked him and he gave them again till all that was with him finished. And then he said "If I had anything. I would not keep it away from you. (Remember) Whoever abstains from asking others, Allah will make him contented, and whoever tries to make himself self-sufficient, Allah will make him self-sufficient. And whoever remains patient, Allah will make him patient. Nobody can be given a blessing better and greater than patience." [Sahih al-Bukhari 1469]

Ibn Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "He who suffers poverty and seeks relief from people, he will not be relieved; but he who seeks relief from Allah Alone, he will be relieved sooner or later." [Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi, who classified it as Hadith Hasan]. [Riyad as-Salihin 533]
